Opening meeting
- Latex issue w/balloon at dances and other school functions
o Policy already exists w/chemical hygiene plan. School is a latex free zone
o Need to make sure extra curricular aware of policy.

- Update dance issues
o Concerns over dancing in last meeting
o Group of kids, teachers and teachers met and had kids dance for us and committee voted on styles of dances in terms of the appropriateness of the dances
" Conducted planned assemblies last Friday, 2 assemblies
" Sensitive subject handled correctly
o Behavior at dance much better
o Couple of corrective measure at last dance
Attendance at dance was low but was typical for Feb dances
" Issues appear to be handled at the dance
- Recapping last meeting
o Mark K. Approached about meeting
" Kids took ownership of meeting which made a big difference
- K9 Units in school for a drug sweep
o Drugs at EHS
" 11 drug and 1 alcohol infractions
" Wanted to send message that school is safe and secure
o Drugs not acceptable
o School placed in a soft lockdown
" Went around and checked classrooms
" Classes sent to empty classroom
" Administrator, dog and handler and state trooper went around empty room to check
" Several classrooms and locker rooms checked
o One boys backpack was a hit but not confirmed by second dog
o One false positive sighted by S. Hayes
" An empty prescription bottle was found, amoxicillin. Student was disciplined for having pill bottle
" Minimal disruption in class
o 20 minutes in and out
o 4 classrooms searched along with lockerooms
o Drug issues - pot mostly
" 1 issues resulted in one expulsion
o Text messaging went out about a lockdown - 5 min after it happens parents called about what was going on
" One more in the spring

o A Safe Place representative
" Hour presentation

- Dating Violence in the health curriculum
o Sporadically in other classes
o People in school Kerry R, Ann Shine help students w/dating violence issues

o Help with committee - co advisors

Guidance Counselor - freshmen
" When students assigned - 1st contact in English class
" Going in early in the year to introduce themselves
" Most going into what they have been advised to take
" Teachers from HS going to middle school to help explain how to place students
" Communication important between MS and HS
Marketing course like AP social studies
" Pace at 100 level very quick
" AP Level silly???
" Yes and no important to challenge students - way getting to that not clean
" Painful and grueling in the beginning
Mr. Daly provided great communication skills
" One case -Not mediocre class - Student rose to challenge
" 2nd case Dropped down to 200 - should have a 100 and an AP as separate courses
" Striking balance difficult thing - Rigor
o Course did send a message
Virtual Classroom - Status
" Presented to admin a month ago
" Would like to have a virtual high school
" For super motivated kids to have kids learn from a website to learn from a class being
" Available in 2nd qtr of next year
" May not bee ready due to other items on technology plate
" Nothing currently in program of studies
" Experimental pilot program next year to see how it woks
" $5000 fee to get into program
o Costs go down if teacher teaches a course
" Issue -Loose control of curriculum
" Benefit - there are a lot of AP level course offering a wide variety of courses
" Some students could use for credit recovery
" Still in planning stage discussed at superintendent level
Student passing AP classes
" What are the stats?
" Up to date stats will be passed out next meeting
" No AP Physics, however AP Bio and AP Chem. Will be offered next year
" Could a Philips Exeter joint course be offered????
" No AP math courses
" Encouraged students taking calc course
o Really love an AP math course for next year

Have to see facilities are available
- A lot of the kids playing other sports or not on formal teams made a great outlet
o Fell apart this year due to a myriad of reasons
